Over 114 participants competed at the 2018 Hereford Northern NSW Youth Show at the Inverell showgrounds from January 5 to 7.
Kianma Poll Hereford owner, Kierin Martin, Narromine, judged the cattle.
Champion bull went to Neridah New Direction N010 and reserve champion bull was Tybay Merlot M004. The steer section was won by a commercial heifer exhibited by Bellview Herefords. The grand champion heifer was Tycolah Grace M136 exhibited by Harrison Kelly.
Sam Bush from Cootamunda was the over judge for the junior judging component of the competition. Matilda Hann, Truro Herefords, Bellata, was named the grand champion judge.
Champion pee wee judge was Gemma White with Jock Carolyn the reserve. Junior champion judge was Grace Thompson with Ryan Lamph and Bridie Kennedy as the equal reserves.
Michael Heyns took out the intermediate junior judge title with Will McLachlan coming in as the reserve intermediate champion. Senior champion was Annalise Brouwer and reserve was Skye Baxter.
Testing the skills of the cattle handlers, the paraders section was judged by Jamie Hollis, Pittsworth, Queensland. Overcoming tough competition, Riley Weller took out the grand champion parader title.
Myles Kelly was named the pee wee champion parader with Drew Walker as the the reserve. Junior champion parader was Riley Weller with Jorja Durkin the reserve.
Liesel Cooper received the intermediate champion parader title with Beau White being named the reserve. The senior champion paraders section was won by Jessica Grosser with Jacinta Cooper coming in as the reserve senior champion parader. Ms Grosser continued her success receiving grand champion herdsman.
Pee wee champion herdsman was won by Drew Weller with Charlie Devlin the reserve. Riley Weller was selected as the junior champion herdsman with Lachlan Bacon receiving the reserve champion ribbon.
The intermediate section was won by Beau White with Liesel Cooper named the reserve. Katrina Skewes took out senior champion herdsman, Sophie Cooper reserve.
The auctioneer competition was judged by Chris Johnston. Grand champion auctioneer went to Jamie Grosser, Raymond Terrace, with Hamish Williamson the winner of the senior section and Julius Hollingsworth and Lachlan Anderson equal first in the junior section.
The Most Potential Breeder Award, sponsored by the Hann family of Truro Poll Herefords and Herefords, was won by Beau White. Mr White receives a registered stud heifer.
The Hereford Breed Ambassador Award went to Jamie Grosser.
