Helical Project Update

Herefords Australia is pleased to provide members with an update on our transition to the Helical registry system.

Since our last communication, significant progress has been made behind the scenes. Our team has been working closely with the Helical developers to configure the system, review workflows and begin testing the migration of data from our current registry.

This work is essential to ensure that the information members rely on every day, including registrations, pedigrees, DNA records, BREEDPLAN information and animal searches, is transitioned to Helical smoothly.

As previously advised, the transition to Helical is being completed carefully and methodically. Running the new system alongside our existing registry allows us to thoroughly test processes and resolve any issues before members begin using the new platform.

Our planned go-live remains on track for mid-October 2026.

Over the coming months, members can expect regular updates as we move closer to launch. We will also provide information on what to expect, training resources, and guidance to help members become familiar with the new system before it goes live.

Thank you for your patience and support as we undertake this important project. While much of the work is happening behind the scenes, we are confident that Helical will provide a more modern, efficient and user-friendly experience for members well into the future.

What’s Next?

Over the coming months, Herefords Australia will continue working closely with the Helical team to ensure a smooth transition. Key activities include:

• Ongoing testing of member, animal and pedigree data.
• Validation of registrations, transfers, DNA and reporting workflows.
• Continued integration with BREEDPLAN.
• Staff training to ensure we are ready to support members.
• Development of member guides, FAQs and training resources.
• Regular project updates through our member communications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will members need to do anything before Helical goes live?

At this stage, no action is required from members. We will provide plenty of notice and step-by-step instructions if anything is required before the transition.

Will my animal and member records transfer to Helical?

Yes. Existing member, animal, pedigree and registration records will be migrated to the new system as part of the transition.

Will BREEDPLAN/EBVs change?

No. BREEDPLAN will continue as normal, with EBVs and Indexes remaining available through the new system.

Will there be any disruption to services?

Our aim is to minimise any disruption. By thoroughly testing Helical before launch, we are working to ensure a smooth transition for members.

Will training be available?

Yes. Before Helical goes live, we’ll provide member guides, videos and other resources to help you become familiar with the new system.

When will Helical be available?

Our current target is to launch Helical by mid-October 2026. We’ll keep members updated as we progress towards this milestone.
