Buying spree nets over $16 million worth of Hereford bulls

Seedstock and commercial buyers have outlaid more than $16 million on Hereford bulls on the 2025 on-property stud sales circuit and multi-vendor sales.

A total of 65 multi-vendor and on property sales across the nation offered 2456 Hereford bulls, with 1780 sold under the hammer for a 72 per cent average, gross of $16,072,800 and average of $9030.

At the 59 on-property autumn and spring sales across NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, a total of 2266 bulls were offered, with 1644 sold under the hammer for a 72 per cent clearance, gross of $14.846 million and average of $9031.

Victorian stud Newcomen snapped up the top selling Hereford bull at $50,000 across the on-property sales circuit for 2025.

Barry Newcomen, Ensay, outlaid the top price for Kidman Head Master U070 on July 14, setting a new on-property stud record for Kidman Cattle Company, Dubbo, NSW. The New Zealand semen rights were sold to Stoneburn Herefords, Otago and the sale averaged $11,600.

Queensland stud Talbalba Herefords, Millmerran, topped the overall sales averages for the year at $13,544.
