This month started off with a trip to the Victorian High Country for the iconic Mountain Calf Sales on 4 and 5 March. The sales took place in Hinnomunjie, Benambra, Ensay, and Omeo, with nearly 9,000 head of cattle going under the hammer over two days. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get out and about and meet with many of you in person. The team and I have been working full steam alongside the Wodonga and Youth Committees in preparation for our major upcoming events. In just six weeks, we will be hosting the StockCo by Heartland Bank Wodonga National Show & Sale, a highly anticipated event on the Herefords Australia calendar.
Preceding this, I encourage you all to attend the Herefords Australia Breed Forum on Tuesday, 13 May, commencing at 9:30 AM. We are building an impressive lineup of industry professionals to present, which will make it a fantastic day for networking and education. The Herefords Australia AGM will follow the forum, concluding with a dinner function at the Members Lounge, Racing Wodonga.
The 60th Anniversary Cocktail Function is next on Wednesday, 14 May, following the bull show. Hosted at The Goods Shed, Wodonga. A reminder that prices increase on 31 March. Tickets for the Breed forum and the 60th Anniversary Cocktail function can be purchased on the HAL website.
Beyond events, we have been working diligently on key business initiatives. The 2024 audit has been successfully completed, and financial statements are now available in the Members Download section of our website.
Additionally, we have renewed our service agreement with Neogen Australasia, ensuring optimal services and pricing for our members. The updated agreement takes effect 1 May 2025, with full details available in this edition of eNews. We have also entered into a corporate partnership with Neogen, strengthening our collaboration to achieve the best outcomes for our members.
Similarly, we have formed a corporate partnership with ACM, Australia’s largest agricultural publisher. This partnership reinforces our commitment to effective marketing and will deliver significant benefits for the breed and our members.
As part of our enhanced marketing strategy, I am pleased to announce that we are seeking to expand our marketing and communications capacity, advertising for a Marketing and Communications Manager which will further enhance our ability to engage and promote the breed.
Looking forward to the month ahead as we continue working towards achieving great outcomes for Herefords Australia.
Best wishes,
Alastair James
CEO, Herefords Australia
