Having joined the team as the new CEO of Herefords Australia just three weeks ago, I am both honoured and excited about the journey that lies ahead and look forward to meeting you all in due course.
Firstly, I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to Michael Crowley, whose leadership has left Herefords Australia in a solid position. I am grateful for the smooth handover and eager to work with my dedicated team to build on the momentum created.
As I step into this role, my focus will be on advancing our strategic priorities, particularly in sustainability and adapting to the evolving market landscape. Herefords have always been a vital part of the supply chain, and our breed’s advantages—such as reduced days to slaughter, superior body condition scores on less feed, and improved fertility—position us well for continued success. Our commitment to sustainability will remain at the forefront as we highlight these genetic benefits through targeted marketing and increased awareness.
The extensive carcase data collected under Michael’s tenure has provided us with invaluable insights into Herefords’ performance across various production systems. This work will continue to be a cornerstone of our efforts to showcase the breed’s advantages.
A particular passion of mine is fostering the next generation of leaders in our industry. I am thrilled that our inaugural Future Leaders and Breeders Forum, in partnership with Rural Bank, is taking place in Brisbane on October 23-24. This event is designed for individuals who are keen to advance their business skills and deepen their understanding of the beef industry. I have also extended the age bracket for eligible participants to those aged 20-45 in line with our strategic plan. If you fit the bill, register now!
