Heavy grown Hereford steers returned $1560-$1945 or 372-407c/kg, feeder steers averaged $1860 or 417c/kg, and yearling steers made $1457-$2060 or 368-434c/kg.
In the weaner steers, those weighing over 350kg returned $1165-$1762 or 314-430c/kg, those weighing 280-350kg finished at $1058-$1655 or 385-512c/kg and lighter weights under 280kg settled at $1055-$1395 or 428-525c/kg.
In the weaner heifers, those weighing over 350kg returned $1215-$1643 or 352-408c/kg and those under 350kg sold for $870-$1620 or 340-587c/kg. Yearling heifers made $1280-$1610 or 362-456c/kg, PTIC autumn calving heifers sold for $1720-$2840, and PTIC cows made $2310-$2980.
Unjoined Hereford cows with calves sold for $2025-$2310 while first calf heifers and calves returned $2020-$2400.
At the Wangaratta Livestock Exchange heifer weaner sale, Feruccio Tonini, Glenrowan, sold weaned heifers, 357kg, for $1460 or 408c/kg, Koombahla Vineyard sold heifers weighing 314kg, 12 to 14 months, for $1290 or 410c/kg, Danetree Herefords, Wooragee, sold heifers, 291kg and nine to 10 months, for $1320 or 453c/kg and D and K Gaudion sold heifers 312kg, 11 to 12 months, for $1200 or 384c/kg. At the Wangaratta Livestock Exchange steer weaner sale, yearling steers topped at $2060 or 406c/kg for a pen aged 17 to 18 months, and weighing 507kg from Ross Backlund. R Warner topped the weaner pens with steers aged nine to 10 months and weighing 339kg, returning $1655 or 488c/kg while G and D Comerford sold steers aged 10 to 11 months and weighing 334kg for $1590 or 476c/kg.
The Blue Ribbon weaner sale at Wangaratta resulted in Danetree Herefords selling 339kg steers for $1650 or 487c/kg.
At Wodonga store sale, a consignment of 600 weaners, Wirruna blood, from Tarabah Livestock, Holbrook, saw the top pen of 51 weighing 241kg making 456c/kg or $1100, and a second pen of 131 weighing 213kg sold for 495c/kg or $1055.
Ruthven Family Trust, Brit Brit, sold Wilkah blood cows, three to seven years, PTIC to Wilkah Quest Q011 and 708kg, for $2980. They were March calving over an eight-week period.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator continued to fall to 710.7c/kg – down from 784/9c/kg in January.
Meat and Livestock Australia reports indicator prices at February 28 for restocker yearling steers at 421.09c/kg, down from 495.2c/kg in January, and feeder steers at 377.3c/kg, down from 396c/kg while restocker yearling heifers stood at 347.9c/kg.
Heavy steers rose slightly to 347.8c/kg from 340 c/kg in January and processor cows gained ground to 288.29c/kg from 266.2c/kg.
