The Board of Herefords Australia have created a new director role within the Board. The position is ‘Member Liaison Representative’ (MLR).
Mr Ian Durkin, Coolatai NSW, (pictured left) was elected to the HAL Board in May 2020 and has been appointed to this position.
What is a Member Liaison Representative (MLR)?
The MLR position has been created to enable easier communication from the members of Herefords Australia to the Board of Directors. Whilst it is understandable and accepted that members will usually contact the Director that they know best to pass on feedback, the establishment of an MLR provides all members with a specific Director that they can contact if they have any feedback or concerns. It is often the case that members do not personally know any of the Directors and the MLR is now the starting point for feedback from these members.
The role of the MLR is to pass any feedback, concerns, or general sentiment back to the Board each time it meets (there is a Board meeting or update monthly).
Members should not expect the MLR to report Board matters back to them, as this is not part of the role. Communication of company activity to members will continue to be through official channels such as member updates and media releases.
It is envisaged that the creation of an MLR will create greater engagement between the HAL Board of Directors and the members of HAL.
