The Hereford judging at the 2019 Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) was held on Friday August 9.
This year’s show drew 64 Hereford entries from 19 exhibitors across New South Wales and Queensland with Adrian Spencer of Ironbark Herefords taking up the judging reins.
Devon Court Herefords had a hugely successful day in the show ring taking out multiple sashes including grand champion bull, champion pair of bulls and champion Breeder’s Group.
The grand champion sash was awarded to senior champion bull; Devon Court Advance N142, a 23-month-old son of Devon Court Advance K126.
Advance N142 is a high growth bull with a 200 and 600-day weight EBV in the top 5 percent of the breed and a 400-day weight in the top 10 percent.
Devon Court last won the senior and grand champion bull titles at the Ekka in 1977.
Reserve senior champion bull was awarded to another Advance K126 son; Devon Court Nash N138.
In the junior bull classes Te Angie Prospector P149 was named junior champion ahead of Devon Court Jubilant P190 in reserve.
Grand champion female was awarded to the senior champion cow; Binara Kalara Revona M072, exhibited by Binara Poll Herefords.
Sired by Canadian sire NJW 78P Twentytwelve 190Z and out of Kanimbla Revona F153, Revona M072 was exhibited with her 6-month-old heifer calf at foot.
The sash for reserve senior champion female was presented to Wararba Park Flo N263, exhibited by Deejay Partnership.
Junior champion heifer was presented to 13-month-old Kalara Miss Revona P24, exhibited by Jamie Holliss and Mikayla Passmore.
Reserve junior champion heifer was awarded to Kianma Matchless P009 exhibited by Kierin and Nikki Martin.
The award for most successful exhibitor was awarded to Richard Ogilvie and Sons of Te Angie Poll Herefords, Armidale.
