Comments: International and interstate visitors joined a strong Gippsland contingent at the Sykes family’s Longford property for their 44th Annual Sale. The previously recorded on property top-price of $22,000 was equalled, and then beaten, twice. The average of $8,220 was $1,000 above the stud’s 2016 result. Bulls were sold to four States and local Gippsland producers were strongly represented.
Kerlson Pines Poll Herefords and Oak Downs Poll Herefords paid the top price of $36,000 for Lot 46, sired by Allendale Anzac. Mawarra’s draft of sixteen Anzac E114 sons averaged $8,750.
Devon Court Advance F052’s nine sons also met strong competition averaging $11,550. They included the second-top price of $29,000, paid by Karoonda Herefords, Gelantipy, for Lot 6,. Another, $22,000 Lot 5, was purchased by Keith Davies, also of Gelantipy, and Newcomen Herefords, Ensay, secured Lot 12, Embark (H), for $21,000.
