Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and Southern Beef Technical Services (SBTS) have both recently released a series of online resources directed at both commercial and seedstock producers.
The MLA Accelerate program provides a range of resources and informative videos directed at commercial producers to encourage greater use of genetic selection tools.
The MLA genetics hub describes the program as:
“No jargon. No complexity.
“Just a clear look at how better breeding values can help you accelerate your herd’s or flock’s productivity.”
The program maps out a path for producers wanting to increase or begin using genetic selection in their herd, beginning with what difference genetics can make in a herd through to putting breeding values into practice.
Each of the four modules are accompanied by a short video (under 10 minutes each) and a range of links to further resources on the topic such as “how to interpret BREEDPLAN EBVs.”

With a more seedstock focus in mind, SBTS have released 12 short videos for the ‘Recording for BREEDPLAN’ video series.
Ranging from two to six minutes in length, these videos give a short overview of the methods and considerations when recording performance information for the BREEDPLAN traits.
Short videos are available on the SBTS & TBTS YouTube channel and also in the Help Centre on the BREEDPLAN website.
