Dear members,
We have some major events coming our way that provide fantastic platforms to promote the breed at an industry level as well as grow the benefits to you our members.
Beef Australia promises to be a tremendous showcase for the industry. HAL have taken a very targeted approach to how we position the breed in northern Australia. We will have Hereford and Hereford cross cattle on display on the Queensland Country Life big screens. The footage was collected in central QLD and shows the cattle performing in local conditions. The videos on the big screens are positioned opposite the main bar area and will be on rotation throughout the week. We have developed a special edition magazine focussing on cross breeding Herefords over northern breeds with a number of case studies backed up with data and evidence. We are partnering with a chef who will be preparing dishes onsite at Beef using Hereford product I have helped procure. We are also hosting social functions with QCL and Brafords respectively. This is in addition to hosting a stand in the genetics area of the main pavilion where the QLD youth will also be doing some fundraising.
I look forward to seeing many members and commercial beef producers at the Herefords Australia Breed Forum being held on the 14th of May at Wodonga. The focus is “Productivity Driven Sustainability” where a number of our partners will be presenting the latest information that will help drive the Hereford breed forward. A real highlight is having Jack Ward and Shane Bedwell from American Hereford Association presenting. They will take us through the innovations they are investing in as well as the broader US beef industry context that will shape the future direction of the breed. Please register prior to the event. The program along with the registration details for the forum is HERE.
As I write this note, my time at Herefords Australia is coming to a close. I have really enjoyed my 2 years as a director and the last 14months as the CEO of Herefords Australia. Over that time I have been intimately involved it the development, implementation and execution of the HAL strategic plan. We are building momentum behind key programs and I leave the business with a sound roadmap for the next person to pick up and run with. The directors of the company are fully committed to seeing the strategy deliver outcomes for the breed that underpin its future. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Rockhampton and Wodonga over the coming weeks.
Best regards,
Michael
