PRIVACY POLICY & COLLECTION STATEMENT

Introduction
Herefords Australia (HA) maintains a Privacy Policy and a Collection Statement in
compliance with the Privacy Act 1988.


PRIVACY POLICY
National Privacy Principles
HA is bound by the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988.


Collection of Information
HA collects personal information (the Information) directly from its members, from other
cattle breed societies and from primary industry organisations.


Legal Basis for collection of the Information
HA must collect the Information in order to fulfil its obligation to report to its members
pursuant to the Corporations Law.


Quality of Personal Information
HA will undertake all reasonable steps to ensure that the Information which is collected and
held is accurate. However it is the responsibility of each member to notify HA of any
amendments which are required in respect of the Information relating to that member.


Security
HA maintains the following security measures which are designed to protect against the
loss, misuse and/or alteration of the Information under its control:
* restricted access
* the confidentiality and disclosure provisions of the agreement between HA and The
   Agricultural Business Research Institute (ABRI)
* clauses in employee agreements requiring confidentiality


Management Practice
A member has the right to request more information about the way HA manages the
Information. This can be done by the member submitting a request to The Chief Executive

COLLECTION STATEMENT
Nature of the Information
The Information collected by HA comprises:
* Personal contact information. This includes the member's name, address, telephone
numbers, facsimile numbers, email addresses, membership details and membership types.
* Herd information. This includes details of livestock, Breedplan information and sale and
show results.


Purpose for which the Information is collected
HA collects the Information for the purposes of:
- contacting and reporting to its members
- forwarding important information to its members
- maintaining and updating its databases containing herd information
- assisting its members to promote their Hereford businesses.


Use and disclosure of Information
HA may use the Information for the following purposes:
* Establish a membership and include the member on HA membership directory.
* Notify details of new services and products offered by HA.
* Notify details of sales, shows and events that may be of interest to its members.
* Receive notification from third parties about events or products that may be of interest to
its members.
* Administer HA's database for membership and financial accounting purposes.
* Help create and distribute HA Publications. Some distribution lists are contracted to
outside mailing houses.
* Create media releases.
* Help improve HA's website for public viewing.
* Promote members' websites to give greater and easier access to all members of the
public.
* Inform other members, associated groups and other interested parties associated with the
industry of members' contact details.
HA may disclose the Information to its members and the general public via the HA website,
HA Publications, HA mailing lists and other means.


Consequences of not providing Information
A member may elect not to provide the Information to HA or to consent to HA using the
Information. However should a member so elect, HA will be unable to provide services to its
members in an accurate, complete and efficient manner.


Access to and modification of the Information
A member has the right to have access to and to modify the Information relating to it. This
can be done by the member submitting a request to The Chief Executive Officer, Locked
