The death occurred in Warrnambool, Vic, on Monday March 26 of Hereford matriarch and Australian Hereford Society life member, Gwen McEachern of Ardno Herefords aged 93.
The famous Ardno Hereford stud was founded in 1937 by her late husband Ralph McEachern and is run today by their son Clive along with his wife Kate and their children Lucy and James. Helen Watson, formerly of Injemira Herefords, is a daughter of the late Ralph and Gwen McEachern.
Ardno held its 53rd annual sale in February at its current location at Wingeel, Vic, and was one of the first Hereford studs to conduct an on-property sale. In past years Ardno was a successful exhibitor at Melbourne and Sydney Royals.
A memorial service will be held at St Johns Church, 25 Manifold Street, Warrnambool, Vic, at 2 pm on Tuesday April 3.
