12th January
The heifer calf sale at Casterton was held in heavy rain throughout. Greg Bright, Landmark Casterton Livestock Manager, has reported that the sale was stronger than anticipated & averaged 160c with most pens selling in the range of 155-169c.

1200 head were yarded comprised of about 300 Hereford & 900 Angus & black baldies. The great majority went to 60-70 day feeders for Coles/Woolworths etc.

There was no price difference based on breed & Greg Bright agrees with this observation. There was 5-10c discount for unweaned calves & Greg Bright made a strong point of this.

The Ogilvie group were significant buyers taking 272 head.
