A purebred steer, bred by Elite Poll Herefords and donated to Belltrees Primary School near Scone, won Champion Led Light Middleweight Carcase at the November 2009 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza with a score of 87.6.

The Beef Bonanza has grown into the largest steer competition in the state with purebred and crossbred entries.

The Elite steer had ideal fat cover with 11mm P8 fat and 10mm rib fat and was beautifully prepared by the young students.

He scored 19.2 out of a maximum of 20 points for his EMA.

This success adds to the recent number of high achieving Elite carcase steers with 7 shown over the last 18 mths for an avg score of 85.4.
